Women and girls face social, economic and political barriers that limit their access to infrastructure services, resources and decision-making processes; thereby, reducing their capacity to cope with climate change impacts. The side event will elaborate on ways in which sustainable, resilient and inclusive infrastructure has the potential to reduce the vulnerabilities that women, girls and other disadvantaged groups face in the context of climate change. It will raise awareness about the imperative of integrating the gender dimension in building and investing in sustainable infrastructure through showcasing good practices and project examples that can be replicated for impact.
