Borderline Personality Disorder includes a pattern of instability in self image, emotions, interpersonal relationships and impulsive behaviours. Narcissistic Personality Disorder is a pattern of grandiosity, haughty behaviour, a constant need for validation and lack of empathy.
It's common for people to confuse BPD with NPD, they are both part of the Cluster B group of personalities but are very different disorders even though they do have some aspects that overlap. This video looks at the similarities, differences, and overlaps.
For instance emotional dysregulation plays a role in both disorders, yet manifests uniquely, and how self-esteem issues, impulsivity, and interpersonal relationships are central to both. Looking also the often intricate co-occurrence of NPD and BPD, offering insights into how these two disorders can coexist in a single individual.
