This frame issue is becoming more and more common as these trucks get older. Since we sell lift kits we see this issue a bit more often than most. Paul from #FABRATS just repaired a Colorado in a video just a month ago. The truck he fixed had the frame cracked on the driver-side. This truck had the passenger side cracked and it's a bit more involved to fix.
The frame cracking isn't inherently due to lifting but more so due to a design flaw and lack of bracing on a "supposed" off-road suspension... This issue affects specifically the 2wd z71 and 4x4 z71 and z85 trucks. This can be an issue when fitting a Skyjacker, Rancho, or Tuff Country subframe lift.
