Painted Foam letters are popular for temporary party signs and events calling for lightweight thick letters.
These Foam Letters are made of Polystyrene which is very similar to Styrofoam. Foam letters are great for making a bold statement but are not known for their beauty. We decided to take a fast and disposable product and improve it by offering the various fonts and sizes, precision cut with our computer aided router, and professionally paint with acrylic paint.
We chose 3lb polystyrene instead of 1 or 2lb Styrofoam because it is more dense creating a higher quality colored foam letter. Due to the air pockets in the material, pockmarks and impurities will be visible after the letters are cut and painted. This material is water and mildew resistant, but the letters are rated for indoor use.
Double-sided mounting tape is recommended to secure these painted lightweight letters to the surface. A paper mounting template will help with spacing and alignment.
With the Standing upgrade each letter will have a flat bottom in order to allow them to stand. This may reduce your letter height slightly depending on the font selected. Some letters, such as J, P and F, may need additional support to stand. This can be done by applying double sided mounting tape to the bottom of the letter, attaching it to a base, leaning it on an adjacent letter or up against a wall.
Thicker letters will have an easier time standing. Letters will have pockmarks and impurities. Harsh solvents will melt the material. Colors may vary from the screen due to monitor settings. Please contact us for a material sample.
