Great British graffiti artist Banksy is an internationally acclaimed film maker now but these images are the images that made him. These images reflect a Britain on the edge of collapse, of social disintegration. Banksy shows us a Britain that we all recognize, a Britain where the state wages war against the people. Banksy gives us images of immense power and immediacy at this period. It`s as though he is spraying his soul onto the wall without consideration, subconsciously spraying his heart out to us, the image of the girl holding the bomb, the policemen engaged in a homosexual kiss, the rioter throwing the bouquet of flowers, these are Banksy at his best, his most famous images, poignant and engaging with wit and humor and a disturbing realism. One is reminded of the words of the Simon and Garfunkel song " and the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls and tenement halls, and whispered in the sound of silence"
