The government is developing an Urban Toll Policy for specific Expressways like the Dwarka Expressway and the Meerut Expressway. Under the National Highways Fee Rule, the current toll for elevated expressway stretches is very high (ten times the rate of ground level) and poses a heavy financial burden for those who use these roads daily for home-office-home commutes.
The Urban Toll Policy is aimed at introducing a lower toll rate compared to charges on other national highways and expressways, for enhancing affordability for daily commuters.
