🐢 The marine reserve in the Galapagos will be expanded by at least 60,000 square kilometers, Ecuador’s president Guillermo Lasso announced on Monday while at COP26.

The move will be financed by a ‘debt-for-conservation swap,’ with some of the country’s significant debt being forgotten in the name of investing in conservation projects. 🌊
