Probably not the most scientifically sound experiment in the world, but just to give people a flavour of how the ATVM95ML stylus can help reduce the effect of inner-groove distortion - particularly on an older and more worn record.
The table is an ATLP5X, and the recording was taken direct from the line-out of the table's in-built pre-amp. No additional effects or filters were used.
Both stylii share the same AT cartridge body - the stylii were simply swapped between takes.
Notice how the vocals pop out more on the ML stylus at around the 2:00 mark, compared with the E stylus where the vocals start to sound overwhelmed by the surrounding distortion caused by the other instruments.
FYI - The ATVM95E stylus in this video is the black version, but identical to the more commonly available green version.
Apologies that I couldn’t *quite* get the two tracks in sync… I tried my best!
