Farmers in Uasin Gishu County have dismissed the ongoing vetting and registration of farmers saying the exercise will not help solve the ongoing maize crisis. The farmers who presented their memoranda before the Senate’s ad-hoc committee investigating the maize scandal also demanded the devolution of the National Cereals and Produce Board. They further called on the Senate to expedite its inquiry into the crisis and unmask the cartels behind the loss of billions of shillings at NCPB.
