In the valley of adversity, we are afraid to live and on the mountain of prosperity we are afraid to die. While some are holding on to life, some are giving up on life. In all this, I find it puzzling, that it is easier for us to think that God is upset with us because of our sins, than to believe that the Lord God is gracious and merciful. Although naturally alive, we could be spiritually dead, dry, or lifeless. So, our alienation from the divine life could be more upsetting to the Lord and Giver of Life.
