When Kim Eaton's son, Matthew, was two, he started to not feel well. Little did Eaton and Matthew know this illness would not be a temporary bug - their family's lives were about to change forever as Matthew was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes (T1D).
In this video Eaton, a Staff Services Manager I in CDCR's Office of Legal Affairs, and Matthew share their experience and how JDRF, the world's biggest nonprofit funder of T1D research, has supported them throughout their journey. They are joined by Stephanie Vidulich, Director of Development Operations for JDRF's Northern California chapter.
Eaton supports JDRF through Our Promise, a statewide campaign in which state workers can sign up to make voluntary payroll deductions to nonprofits of their choice. There are many ways to give, whether through financial donations, giving your time to causes you are passionate about, or sharing information about groups whose work is important to you.
For the first time ever Our Promise pledges will be made online at Cal Employee Connect. Also on the site, employees can access their digital pay warrants, review their leave balances, and see their W-2s. All you need to support your cause is their name and Federal Tax ID. If you choose JDRF, their ID is 23-1907729.
