A man passing through a remote village asked an elderly woman for some water. Despite the scarcity, she agreed. He noticed a shy little girl beside her and asked if she attended school. The girl silently shook her head.
The man returned to his car, brought out snacks and a camera, and, with permission, took a photo of the girl, printing it out as a gift. He learned the elderly woman was her grandmother and asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up. She said she wished to go to school so her mother would give her a backpack.
Touched, the man drove over 100 kilometers to buy a backpack and school supplies. When he returned, the girl and her brothers ran to greet him. He handed her the gifts, feeling a pang of regret for not bringing something for her brothers, but hoped she would share.
As he printed a family photo, he asked their dreams. The boy said he wanted to be a police officer; the girl, a doctor. In that moment, the man realized that small acts of kindness could inspire great aspirations.
