On this video I introduce how I cook my purple rice. I have been using this method for years and the result is amazing warm, soft, chewy rice that my family approves. It’s rarely crunchy or mushy. I rarely cook just white rice. I usually add multigrain or beans to add more textures and nutrition to everyday rice I eat. This purple rice is very easy to make. This method is very easy to follow. I always soak my rice overnight. Soaking rice overnight reduces the cooking time and the end result is nice soft chewy rice. Fingertip method to measure water level has been used by many people. It works well consistently. I hope that this video helps you with your cooking purple rice. You can enjoy delicious rice with any dish you make.
Ingredients:
2 cups short grain white rice
1/4 cup black sweet rice
1/4 cup sweet rice
A little over 2 cups of water
Toasted sesame seeds
Roasted seaweed (no oil, no salt)
Soy sauce
*I used 2 1/2 cups of multigrain rice. After soaking it overnight, I added about a little over 2 cups of water.
*Before you measure the water level, make sure the rice is level. Bring index finger to the top of the rice level. Pour water to the level half way between the tip of index finger and first knuckle.
*I used electric stove. Cooking time may vary depending on the type of stove you use.
*You can also use rice cooker and it will give you the similar result.
