A record number of migrants crossed the English Channel to the United Kingdom last year.
Nearly 45,756 people arrived on small boats, according to new figures from the Ministry of Defence.
Arrivals have increased more than 60 per cent on the previous year as people continue to risk their lives making the treacherous journey from France.
