How to split big rounds of firewood/ splitting large diameter rounds:
When using a vertical log splitter to split big rounds of firewood, it can be tough to move the big rounds when positioning them on the bottom plate of the log splitter. Here's a simple tactic of how to split big rounds easily - 300 or 400 lb rounds, no problem. All you need is one piece of firewood to do so. First I bucked a big diameter round of red oak firewood with my trusty Stihl chainsaw (model MS 261C ), great tool for the job. Splitting red oak is fun, no matter what the diameter (as long as you have the ability to move it) because it splits so easily
