Haitians gathered in Port-au-Prince on Wednesday to mourn and pay their respects to President Jovenel Moïse, one week after his assassination.
“We are commemorating his memory to express our love, our affection and understanding; to say how much this hurts,” said one man, Benoit Josias.
Moïse was shot dead in his home by what authorities describe as a unit of assassins, including 26 Colombians and two Haitian Americans. A third Haitian American, Christian Emmanuel Sanon, was arrested on Sunday by Haitian authorities, accused of being a mastermind of the attack.
