We spent a week inside Georgia's Russian border mountain town of Kazbegi and it was absolutely incredible 🇬🇪
We got the marshrutka from didube Bus station in Tbilisi for 15 GEL each and it took about 3 hours to reach Kazbegi or Stepantsminda way up in the Caucasus mountains.
Blue Guesthouse was where we stayed and it was super cheap at around 37 GEL a night, came complete with a huge balcony overlooking the massive Mt Kazbek.
The town of Kazbegi/Stepantsminda itself really isn't that great in my opinion and due to the extreme influx of Russians leaving Russia it was so so busy and just brimming with people.
However the mountains around this area are unbelievable, there isn't a single bad view in this region.
We spent our time soaking in these fantastic views and did a few hikes up either side of the valley, to a secret church not really visited by any tourists, aswell as the famous hike to the Gergeti Trinity Church which is pretty much a Georgian icon.
There is a reason Kazbegi is so well visited by both domestic and international tourists it's extremely beautiful however it has way outgrown its capacity now and I can see it losing its little mountain town charm very soon so get there while you can!
