Some of you have left comments on my channel asking me to compare the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 and the Sony SEL35F18. Now is the time to dig into two of the best lenses available for the Sony A6000.

First off, the Sigma 30mm 1.4 lens is sharper. You’re going to get more tack sharp images with this lens when you nail the focus. It also has great color rendition in-camera.

However, the Sony 35mm 1.8 is still a very sharp lens and renders colors well as well. Ultimately, you will be able to get great photos with either lens.

When it comes to autofocus accuracy, the Sony 35mm beats the Sigma. I found myself missing focus more often with the Sigma 30mm lens. The 35mm almost never misses focus for me. I probably missed about 20% of my shots with the Sigma.

For video, the Sony 35mm has the advantage of OSS image stabilization. The Sigma 30mm does not have stabilization, which means for shakier handheld video if you are using the A6000 or A6300. A6500 users will not have this issue.

For my style of shooting and preferences, I chose the Sony 35mm f/1.8. The added sharpness from the Sigma is not a big enough tradeoff when I consider the amount of video I shoot and the autofocus performance issues.
