President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, met with Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar today (8 March) in Dublin. Tusk said that the UK should stick to the commitments made in December in the UK-EU Joint Report. If the UK doesn't produce a solution, Tusk said it would be difficult to imagine substantive progress. Tusk said the EU-27 stand by Ireland and that this was a matter for the EU-27 and Ireland, not Ireland and the UK.
