Here is a 1968 Capri Consolette from Lady Schick, model 315 in regal aqua blue color that I call "Soothing Blue." Lady Schick made some of the smoothest running - and nicest sounding – bonnet hair dryers during the 1960s and 1970s. The two most viewed videos on this channel are of other Lady Schick dryers.

Today, this half-century-old dryer is very often seen for sale on sites like eBay and Etsy, a testament to the model’s solid build and long-lasting durability. Lady Schick is a U.S. company, but this particular unit was manufactured in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. This Capri Consolette is rated at 750 watts and has four speeds: cool, warm, medium, and hot. Counting time from midnight to 9 a.m. is a matching vintage Westclox "Sizzle Blue Drowse Dialite" clock.

The Capri Consolette produces an airy, breezy, open, and stable airflow that resonates a sense of calm. The gentle sound is ideal to help you relax, concentrate, study, or peacefully fall asleep. The engine noise is quite soft and unobtrusively low-key compared to other bonnet dryers. Sit or lie down in a comfortable position, close your eyes, and envision the air gently blowing all your problems and stresses away, leaving you feeling clear, refreshed, and rested. This track is also ideal for blocking out unwanted outside noise.

I recorded this dryer using 8 professional microphones including ASMR binaural mics beneath the bonnet and individual mics for the motor. Two microphones were placed at the bottom left and right edges of the bonnet to add a new, wider dimension to the stereo field. The different sets of mic recordings combined capture the multi-layered nature of this dryer's wonderful sounds. At moderate volume with headphones, you will experience a simulation of what it sounds like to sit directly beneath the dryer.
