Unassuming exterior & interior but tons of high performance modifications and addons are the main ingredients of a super sleeper/ Q-car.
The beginnings of the sleeper car associated with the release of factory cars, which were comfortable or even economy-class cars but at the same time were preinstalled with extremely powerful engines and started rolling out of the factories in 1950s. Such wolves in sheep's clothing quickly got attention of car lowers and gradually were turned into a whole culture.
Nowadays there are two subgenres in the sleeper words – car enthusiasts, who drive stock cars, which possess the subdued exterior and incredible speed characteristics right away; and those, who try to create their own Q-cars from scratch (it involves finding a standard grandma car and fitting it with more powerful engine, adding performance mods but leaving the exterior untouched).
There are some things, which may give away a sleeper – wider tires, engine tone, lower stance, unhidden additional gauges, or missing interior details (which are thrown away with an aim of weight reductions).
True sleepers are usually involved in street racing, as many such cars are used to humiliate the owners of luxury or super sports cars on the streets.
