(10 Feb 2018) Hundreds of revellers gathered in Rio de Janeiro's Santa Teresa neighbourhood early on Saturday morning to attend the carnival street party "Heaven on earth."
Playing music, dancing on stilt legs and singing, the merrymakers participated in one of the dozens of parties that take place in Rio and other cities in Brazil.
The participants dressed as bees, angels, indigenous people, bears, nurses, and even prisoners.
The carnival officially started on Friday but the street parties have taken to the streets of Rio for weeks.
Samba schools will parade and compete on Sunday and Monday at Sambadrome, with thousands watching.
