Piazza Navona is one of the most famous squares monumental of Rome, built in the monumental style by the Pamphili family at the be halp of Pope Innocenzo X (Giovanni Battista Pamphili) with the typical form of an ancient stadium. Piazza Navona, at the time of ancient Rome, was Stadium of Domitian which was built by the emperor Domitian in the 85 and in the 111 century it was restored by Alessandro Severo. It was 265 long meters, 1 06 wide and could accommodate 30,000 spectators.
The stadium was richly decorated with some statues. one of which is that of Pasquino (perhaps a copy of a presumed Hellenistic parchment group representing Menelaus holding the body of Patroclus), now in the homonymous square next to the square Navona.
