The economy will come to a crashing halt as South Africa goes into lockdown. It is estimated that about 8% of South Africa's GDP will be decimated during these 21 days. Estimations differ as to the extent of the plunge in our economic fortunes as a nation and as a people - some say R200bn will be wiped out of our growth prospects in the 21 days and for example, ABSA bank expects a 3% plunge in GDP.
