Should Females Exercise Differently Than Males?
This is a hot topic that is widely debated within the fitness industry. Brad and I have discussed this question, and we both completely agree that gender should not be the only determinant of how you’re going to train, or what training program to use.
Rather than training based on your gender, we believe both men and women need to train specifically for their goals. It all comes down to your goals baby.
You need to first decide if you’re looking to:
Lose fat
Build muscle
Or do both
Why Don’t Women Get Bulky With Our Workout Programs?
You probably asking how come women don’t get bulky, or gain the same amount of muscle that guys do, by using our lifting programs? Well, getting bulky is actually hard for anyone to do, regardless if you are a guy or a girl.
Getting bulky doesn’t happen on accident, because muscles don’t just grow by themselves. Females are even less likely to put on muscle from exercise alone. The reason for this is simple. Women do not naturally produce the sufficient amount of testosterone to build large muscle gains.
Why Do Some Women Look Bulky At The Gym?
Now I know you’ve probably seen girls that look bulky at the gym. When it comes to females getting bulky, it’s usually the result of either:
1. They are training specifically to look that way, so they train really hard to add bulk.
2. They most likely have used hormone enhancements to achieve that bulky result.
So don’t worry, you will not accidentally get bulky.
Then you see fitness girls like me for example. I’ve been consistently lifting weights for over 14 years. I also continuously push myself to lift heavier and harder with each year of training. Based on this, my results always comes out leaner and more toned, rather than ever looking bulky.
This is the natural result most females experience when they follow a training program. Even though this question was really about how women should train, I have to mention calorie intake as well.
It’s very easy to mistake fat gain for bulk, but it’s not the same thing.
It’s important to understand that lean muscle is more dense and takes us less space, when compared too fat.
So make sure you are eating correctly for your goals.
Bottom Line On Should Women Workout The Same As Men?
With the right amount of calories and the right training program for you, you are going to get exactly what you want, regardless if you are a guy or girl.
I hope our answer to the question, should women workout the same as men, was helpful to you.
