Regional cooperation in South Asia has the potential to push significant gains. It could increase intraregional trade by nearly $44 billion, expand hydropower and clean energy capacity by three-fold by 2040, and help mitigate climate risks for over 800 million people in vulnerable hotspots. World Bank’s Regional Integration, Cooperation and Engagement (RICE) framework in South Asia is working toward these gains, with a focus on enabling economic connectivity, reducing vulnerabilities and building resilience, and investing in human capital.
