Tropical forests are exceptionally diverse, hold an important role in large-scale biogeochemical processes, modify climate, provide livelihoods for forest dwellers, and are undergoing rapid transformation through deforestation and land-use change.
Understanding, protecting, and managing these systems is one of the most pressing issues currently faced by society, scientists, and policy-makers, and requires knowledge and skills that cross traditional academic disciplinary boundaries.
