The 2024 Volkswagen T-Roc R is a feisty little performance SUV that brings a more aggressive design, engine, suspension and brakes than its garden-variety small SUV siblings.

Slamming down more power than the Volkswagen Golf GTI at a lower price than the Volkswagen Golf R’s, it’s a genuine scorcher that accounts for a large slice of sales of VW’s top-selling model Down Under.

So it seems the T-Roc R presents the right size, price, equipment, performance and look for many Aussies, hitting the sweet spot like no other model currently does for the German auto brand.

The only problem is the T-Roc R is an SUV and these high-riding, top-heavy wagons often pale in comparison to hotted-up hatchbacks and sedans when it comes to handling dynamics and driver engagement.
