Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints breaks ground on second Temple in Washington County
WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah - (11/07/2020) - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints broke ground on it’s second temple serving the St. George area. The Red Cliffs Temple will be among one in three Utah cities to house two temples and one of five locations worldwide.
Named after the Red Cliffs behind it, dedicatory prayers were offered for the new temple on a windy day in remembrance of the pioneers who came to this state and successfully built a home for the mormon faith and religion.
The first St. George Utah Temple, was dedicated in 1877. It closed a year ago, for renovation and is expected to reopen in 2022.
