U.S. health officials have so far reported 33 deaths and almost 1,500 confirmed and probable cases of a mysterious respiratory illness tied to vaping. As a result, many countries have withdrawn electronic vaping products from the shelves or restricted advertising while liquid e-cigarettes face increased scrutiny. South Korea is also considering an outright ban on e-cigarettes.
