People keen to offer shelter to Ukrainian refugees can register their interest in a new humanitarian scheme from Monday.
The new Homes for Ukraine programme will enable Britons to offer a spare room or home to anyone fleeing the Russian invasion.
More than 3,000 visas have been issued to Ukrainians seeking refuge in the UK so far, according to Levelling Up Secretary Michael Gove. The number is expected to rise significantly in the coming weeks.
More than 2.5 million Ukrainians have fled the country since Vladimir Putin’s forces invaded on February 24, according to the latest estimates from the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
