This video lecture of BiologyExplained talks in details about will vaccines work against Delta Variant. Delta variant or B1.617.2 is also known as India Variant or previously known as
double mutant variant. The biggest question in everyone's mind is will vaccines work against this delta variant? Here in this video I have tried to cover the effect of 4 vaccines namely Covishield, Pfizer BioNtech, Sputnik V and Covaxin on Delta variant.
There are research study which says the vaccines like Oxford Astrazeneca also known as Covishield in India is working against the delta variant, but to a lesser extent. And the effectiveness is only
seen after two doses of the vaccine. However it gives 92% protection from hospitalization after two doses. Pfizer BioNtech also works effectively after two doses, however it has reduced effectivity as compared to the alpha variant (UK Variant). It shows 96% protection against hospitalization. Sputnik V and Covaxin also claims to work against the Delta variant.
