Early Tests of the 2025 VW T-Roc Have Been Seen In Southern Europe

It will be one of VW's last cars with a gas engine.
Volkswagen stated in April of this year that the next-generation T-Roc will be one of the last cars the company makes with a combustion engine. The Wolfsburg-based company has already started working on this new car, and it won't come out until 2024 or even 2025. We can now show you the first spy pictures of the 2025 T-Roc, which is still being tested as a pig.

These pictures were taken in Southern Europe while the next-generation T-Roc was still being tested. You can see that the car looks like a modified Golf Mk8 right now, with bigger wheel arches and a lifted suspension. There is also a picture of the interior taken from a distance that shows a rough layout of the dashboard, with an instrument cluster hidden under a big box.

VW's best-selling car in Europe last year was the T-Roc, and the company isn't ready to make it an electric-only model just yet. A company representative told Autocar earlier this year, "The current T-Roc with an internal combustion engine is one of our best-selling models, so we will not leave this segment." Volkswagen has registered the ID. Roc nameplate as a trademark, which suggests that the car might become electric in the future. However, the T-Roc will still be driven by combustion engines for the time being.

Early stories, on the other hand, say that the new T-Roc will use electric powertrains. The model is sold with regular TSI and TDI turbo gas and diesel engines right now, but mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines will likely be added soon. A new version of the MQB platform will support the crossover. This will make it possible to add electric power to the combustion engines.

As far as the T-Roc Cabriolet goes, it's not one of the most famous crossovers, and its future doesn't look bright right now. VW's only open-top model right now, though, so the German company might decide to keep it around for another generation as a niche product. It's likely the same for the T-Roc R as well.
