I chose to arrange Marianna’s Prelude No. 5, for which I thank her again, because of its particular emotional impact. I was struck by the impetuous nature of the opening and closing sections, contrasting with the extreme sweetness of the slower middle part. In my arrangement, I aimed to emphasize this hidden fire while also evoking a sense of calm, as if one might hear the flowing of a stream or the rustling of wind through hair.
