On December 6th and 7th, 2018, it was held in Paris the 13th International Conference of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD). For this new edition, AFD decided to focus on Inequalities and Social Cohesion, after having discussed other relevant development issues such as Energy in 2014 and Commons in 2016.
The scientific day, Dec 6th, allowed researchers and experts to explore new topics and technical issues.
After a short opening session by Gaël Giraud, Chief Economist at AFD, this plenary session focused on:
- The interplay between women's earnings and household income: a cross-national analysis of high- and middle-income countries, by Janet Gornick,
- Market income inequality, political alignment, and redistribution in Latin America by Branko Milanovic.
