Born In Battle
Today is the Army's 248th birthday: On this day in 1775 the Second Continental Congress established the Continental Army. The Raptor Brigade's part in the Army story began in January 1968 with the activation of the 16th Combat Aviation Group in Vietnam.
For 248 years, the U.S. Army has served as America's first line of defense. We are proud of our Army's history and we are proud to be the world's premier land fighting force, charged to fight and win our nation's wars.
