The Analog Astronaut and The Future of Education at the 2019 Independent Charter School Symposium - November 18, 2019
Dr. Sian Proctor is a science educator with a passion for space exploration, geoscience, and helping young people develop leadership skills. She’s a dedicated teacher with extraordinary professional development experience including being chosen as a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Teacher at Sea, a PolarTREC teacher to Barrow, Alaska, and an astronomy Ambassador to US observatories in Chile. This past summer she was the science communication education outreach officer on the JOIDES Resolution engaging in climate change research in the Antarctic Circumpolar Current. She
was even a finalist for the 2009 NASA Astronaut Program and spent 4 months living in a NASA funded Mars simulation called HI-SEAS. She believes that solving the technological challenges of human space exploration really solves humanity-focused challenges on Earth.
