Meher Baba's connection with Krishna Das's guru, Neem Karoli Baba, is this: "[Meher Baba's secretary] Adi [K. Irani] had received a letter from Richard Alpert [renamed Ram Das by Neem Karoli Baba and close friends with Krishna Das] in March 1968, informing him that Alpert had given up his academic career and had journeyed to India. He was staying in a temple in Hardwar [sic], under the guidance of a guru named Neem Karoli Baba. Alpert wished to have [Meher] Baba's darshan. Adi replied that Baba was still in seclusion and there was no certainty that darshan would be permitted, even after May. Purportedly, when Neem Karoli Baba learned of Alpert's intention, he made an unusual remark, informing Alpert, 'You want to see Meher Baba? You know Meher Baba is your true guru.' When Adi came to Meherazad, he was able to inform Baba of Richard Alpert's presence in India. Baba said to send a telegram of his blessings to Neem Karoli Baba and to Alpert" (Lord Meher, Bhau Kalchuri, online edition, p. 5327). Meher Baba stated that Richard Alpert was a "sincere seeker of Truth" and corresponded directly with him, and Richard Alpert spread Baba's name in the many books he wrote. Krishna Das performed at Mumbai's Nesco Center on the 20th of October 2024, and his website is [ Ссылка ]. Meher Baba's sister "Mani remembered Him [Baba] often pointing to His heart, indicating how touched He was [with the singing of Jim Reeves, a country music star in the 1950s and '60s]." "His voice touches my heart... It has dard [which means "pain" in both Hindi and Farsi]. That’s why I like it" (Mehera-Meher, David Fenster, pp. 438, 317). Video editor's note: Krishna Das's voice has more dard in it than any other singer I have ever heard.
