BRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (WKRC) - The search resumes for an elderly Bracken County man swept away by floodwaters over the weekend but now it's a recovery effort.
Delmar Nickoson, 82, was in his mobile home when water began to quickly rise early Sunday morning.
Rushing waters carried the home down the creek and Nickoson hasn't been seen since.
The captain of the search and rescue team, Ron Nadicksbernd, said they'll only search from 8:30 a.m. until about 1 p.m. because search crews are tired. At least 50 people were searching for Nickoson Monday. It's been very hot and some of them have had trouble staying hydrated.
He says they will keep searching for Nickoson until they find him. "My heart goes out to the family, you know they're local people. We love them. We treat this as if one of our own is missing," said Bracken County Search and Rescue member Alex Hyrczea.
This was the second time a home of Nickoson's has been swept away. Something similar happened during the flood in 1997. After that, he bought a new trailer and moved it closer to the road.
