Hi everyone,
In class, we discussed the quotes “If I do not stand for myself, who will stand for me?” and “If I am only for myself, what am I?” I’d recently watched Joy Buolamwini’s TED talk on algorithmic bias. Her words, “We have entered the age of automation, overconfident, yet underprepared. If we fail to make ethical and inclusive artificial intelligence, we risk losing gains made in civil rights and gender equity under the guise of machine neutrality,” inspired me to embark on this project.
I wanted to educate myself and share what I learned with the class. After all, educating oneself about issues is the first step in facilitating change.
