Due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak, Nekton Submarine STEM 2020 live lessons will be delivered as a virtual event, with speakers joining from where they are, rather than from the research vessel.
In this lesson, learners will meet Sheena Talma of the Seychelles’ Conservation and Climate Adaptation Trust.
Connect live to the Indian Ocean, where the Nekton expedition team is undertaking important research about the health of the deep ocean off Seychelles and the Maldives. This live lesson will focus on the relationship between science and ocean conservation, and how the governments of the Seychelles and the Maldives can use the data collected by the team to inform better ocean management and protection.
Classes will have have the chance to put their questions to the team on-board the research ship DSSV Pressure Drop, including the chance to communicate live with DSV Limiting Factor, the submarine used in this research, which is capable of diving to the deepest point in the ocean.
