The first part of "Skiftsamtale" with Professor Jeffrey Sachs and members of Skift - Business Climate Leaders, 10.01.2022
For our first “Skiftsamtale” this year, Skift Business Climate Leaders met with Professor Jeffrey Sachs. We are all aware of the climate challenge, but can we turn it into business opportunities - what is realistic, what can we do and what are the pitfalls when trying to act?
Professor Sachs notes that the climate crisis should be combined with all effects humans have on the planet. In many dimensions of the earth's systems the impact of human activity is pervasive and adverse. We have reached critical levels of interference with earth and the number of disturbances are rising in intensity. What challenges are we facing and what measures can be done?
Jeffrey D. Sachs is University Professor and Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University. He is President of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Chair of the Lancet COVID-19 Commission, Co-Chair of the UN Council of Engineers for the Energy Transition, Commissioner of the UN Broadband Commission for Development, academician of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences, and Tan Sri Jeffrey Cheah Honorary Distinguished Professor of Sustainable Development at Sunway University.
Sachs has been Special Advisor to three United Nations Secretaries-General, and currently serves as an SDG Advocate under Secretary-General António Guterres.
