I had just gotten off the Pelni ship from a weekend at Pulau Seribu, the thousand islands off of Jakarta's coast, when I found this man selling some awesome local Indonesian food off of his bicycle.
He said his name is Saman, and starts making his homemade food at 6am, hand grinding the peanuts for the delicious sauce.
While I was eating his delicious food, I realized his face reminded me a lot of the president of the U.S.A. Barack Obama.
Is it just me or can you see the resemblance also?
He calls his bicycle food Master Somay, but I jokingly recommended to him a new name: Barack Obama Somay.
Siomay, is an Indonesian steamed fish dumpling with vegetables served in peanut sauce. It is derived from Chinese Shumai. It is considered a light meal that is similar to the Chinese Dim Sum, but is cone shaped.
