Government is planning to give military training to five volunteers in each village and equip them with guns to protect their vanilla crop from thieves. This comes on the heels of several appeals by vanilla farmers for help to deal with rampant theft and dealers who who buy immature vanilla. Local government officials have been urged to pass by-lawyers related to vanilla farming.
