From ‘the78prof’ playlist “And Then They Added Words.” Originating as the 1955 French song “Les lavandières du Portugal” [ Ссылка ] , the tune initially acquired the English lyric “Kiki” (sung here by Rosemary Clooney’s younger sister as well as by the Hugo Winterhalter chorus [ Ссылка ] ). Then in 1956 it found better success in America via the popular instrumental “Portuguese Washerwomen” as recorded by Joe ‘Fingers’ Carr (Lou Busch) [ Ссылка ]
