Well planned and executed mixed methods evaluation designs allow evaluators and stakeholders to gain a deeper understanding of why and how complex interventions work or not. Using examples from real projects, this presentation will cover different strategies for mixing qualitative and quantitative methods into one approach for generating rich information. In this session, you’ll learn some practical principles of mixed method designs and see how they were applied in several real-world projects.
Laura Holdsworth, PhD, is a Social Science Research Scholar with the Evaluation Sciences Unit in the Division of Primary Care and Population Health within the Department of Medicine at Stanford. In her current role, she works as the qualitative methods expert within mixed methods research teams to improve the implementation and delivery of care for seriously ill patients. She has been a health services researcher and Implementation scientist for 15 years, conducting research in both the US and UK. Prior to her appointment at Stanford, she was a Research Fellow in the Centre for Health Services Studies at the University of Kent, UK.
