Recently, my Polaris Quattro P40 pool cleaner stopped working. After making sure the pumps were running and water was flowing from the feed line, the next step was to take a look inside the cleaner itself. In this video I trouble shoot the reason my pool cleaner stopped moving and determined the parts needed to put it back into operation.

Being made almost entirely out of plastic, many of the internal mechanical parts were showing signs of excessive wear and much sooner than I would have expected for one that's only been in use for a few years. I also noticed there were areas within the pool cleaner where dirt or sand had built up, as well as inside mechanical gear boxes on both sides of the cleaner. My only assumption is that the dirt and sand have accelerated the erosion of the mechanical parts, acting almost like sandpaper.

I researched the parts I would need to replace the worn equipment and get the pool cleaner moving again. I was surprised to discover that there are no full "rebuild" kits to speak of, so I had to source most of the parts individually...which was mostly Amazon. This is NOT an inexpensive fix to problem of the pool cleaner not moving, but it's not an inexpensive piece of equipment to begin with...so you were probably already aware of that. Also, you may not need to replace as many parts as I did...you might just be able to install a new drive shaft and you're back in business! Take a look at each component in your pool cleaner and decide which one(s) are most critical and/or in the poorest condition and just replace that!
