Hey, everyone, it's Lance. And I'm so excited to have you here because today, we're talking about how to submit a Medicare application. How to Apply for Medicare. So this video will be a super simple step by step guide, that will be really helpful if you're not automatically enrolled in Medicare. And by the way, if you're not sure if you'll be automatically enrolled, or if you're not sure which Medicare plans would be best for you, that's totally okay.Feel free to watch some of our other videos first, where we go into these topics in more detail. And then you can always come back to this video later, if you like. So to get started with submitting your Medicare application, you have three basic options. Option one is you can visit your local social security office and apply in person. And then option two is you can call the Social Security Department and apply over the phone. How to Apply for Medicare. And lastly, option three is applying online, which is by far the fastest and easiest way to apply for Medicare. And the good news is that it only takes about 20 minutes.So next, let's go through how the online process works. When you're ready, you'll want to go to social security.gov forward slash Medicare forward slash apply. And I'll put this link down in the description below. So you can just click on it. And then once you click on the link, and after the page has loaded, you'll want to scroll down and click the big blue button that says apply for Medicare only. Now keep in mind that if you don't already have a my Social Security account, you'll need to do that first. How to Apply for Medicare. So creating a my Social Security account is something that's easy, it's quick, and it's safe to do online.Now to create this account for yourself, you'll need some basic information ready. So make sure you have a valid email, your social security number and your us mailing address. It's also important to know that you have to be at least 18 years old to make an account. How to Apply for Medicare. And you can only create an account using your personal information, you can't make an account for someone else. So once you've made an account and you're logged in, you'll see the terms of service, you're more than welcome to read through them if you like and then you'll want to check the box next to I understand and click Next. And then once you've done that you're in congratulations. Now you should see a page like this with a lot of different options. And this can look a bit overwhelming. But all you need to do is look for the section on the left hand side of the screen titled apply online for retirement Medicare benefits. How to Apply for Medicare. And then once you find that, you'll want to scroll down until you see a section called apply and complete. And then when you see this section, go ahead and click Start a new application.
