Recorded at the Majestic Theater. Directed by Stephen Petit, based on the story by Frances Hodgson Burnett
Although best known for The Secret Garden, with its bold little character of Mary Lennox, Frances Hodgson Burnett also wrote of another heroic young girl—once popularized by Shirley Temple—named Sara Crewe. Sara, like Mary, is born and raised in India, until one day her father sends her to a boarding school in England, run by the stern and icy Miss Minchin. Impressed by her wealth of toy dolls and pretty clothes, Miss Minchin and the other girls dote on their "Little Princess". But when it is discovered that her father has gone missing, Miss Minchin becomes a real-life wicked stepmother to the suddenly poor and orphaned Sara, moving her into the attic and demanding of her endless chores. But however poor and mistreated Sara becomes, nothing seems to break her little spirit. She discovers that being a Princess does not mean living in a castle or having fancy clothes... it means being kind and brave, no matter what you have, or where you are. A classic Cinderella story, enjoyable for girls and boys alike—don't miss this clever and endearing little fairy tale.
