Mantis have a slightly altered nervous system from the Generic Insect nervous system which include a large ganglia that is brain in head region and three other ganglia in thoracic region. These ganglia which act as secondary brains are capable of receiving senses and making responses even in the absence of the brain. This leave a question whether a headless mantis is dead or alive?
